My days with foreign teachers in Golden Maple

    Iskra, an old but energetic woman, is one of them. She is from Bulgaria. She has three children. One interesting thing is that three children live in different countries. But they get in touch with each other everyday on the skype. It is really a hard thing for a woman to lay aside her home and work in an unfamiliar country with Chinese people. Maybe this is her way of life, although she usually jokingly says “maybe is nothing.” However, she is optimistic. She never complains embarrassment Chinese people brings to her as she knows their culture and is tolerant

 Furthermore, she traveled numerous places. She told to me that she traveled most countries of Europe and lived in America 7 years, moreover, lived in Guangdong 5 years. Due to this she knew more about China and became a well-informed teacher. She even gets used to eating Chinese food such as fish flavored pork slices. She is really a experienced teacher. She is a teacher, who is full of enthusiasm; she is a teacher, who is ready to help others however hard it is for her; she is a teacher, who I love deeply.

    What is her everyday life look like? It is a real lucky thing to work with her. The happiest time is that we go to Hi-Tech every Friday afternoon. Despite different levels of English and their widely different ages she always teaches patiently. She teaches 3 to 5 classes everyday. If she has no class, she will learn to Chinese. It is compensative that she teaches me English and I teach her Chinese. At the age of more than fifty she is really a successful woman. She tells me that if I rest, I rust. Factually, those who would attain the heights reached and kept by great men must keep their faculties polished by constant use, so that they may unlock the doors of knowledge.

    To her life should go with pleasure. To be real happy and really safe, in her opinion one ought to have at least two or three hobbies, and they must all be real. It is no use starting late in life to say: “I will take an interest in this or that.” Such an attempt only aggravates the strain of mental effort. A man may acquire great knowledge of topics unconnected with his daily work, and yet hardly get any benefit or relief. It is no use doing what you like; you have got to like what you do. From my view, human being may be divided into three classes: those who are toiled to death, those who are worried to death, and those who are bored to death. It is no use offering the manual laborer, tried out with a hard week’s sweat and effort, the chance of playing a game of football or baseball on Saturday afternoon. It is no use inviting the politician or the professional or business man, who has been working or worrying about serious things for six days, to work or worry about trifling things at the weekend. So that’s why she is always energetic.

    All in all, foreign teachers in China they not only let us know their culture, their life-style, their attitude toward life and etc., but also teach us authentic English language.
